O IAB – Departamento da Bahia foi inaugurado por ocasião do VI Congresso Brasileiro de Arquitetos, em 1966, com a participação de um grande número de arquitetos brasileiros, dentre os quais Vilanova Artigas, Joaquim Guedes, Mauricio Roberto, Miguel Pereira e Jorge Wilheim, contando com a presença do Governador, à época, Lomanto Junior."--IPAC.
