English: Edging, black, Bedfordshire-Maltese bobbin lace (has Bedfordshire nine pin edging) This is a piece of Beds Maltese lace edging, in black silk with a nine pin edge. Nine pin edge is a beginner's piece of lace which children learnt, so called because it required nine pins to work each pattern repeat. This could possibly be the end of one lappet.
