Description

Gérard Mourou, professeur et membre du Haut-collège de l'École polytechnique a été nommé prix Nobel de physique 2018. Il partage cette récompense avec la canadienne Donna Strickland pour avoir conjointement élaboré une méthode de génération d'impulsions optiques ultra-courtes de haute intensité. Arthur Ashkin reçoit aussi le prix pour l'invention des pinces optiques. Les applications dans le domaine médical en particulier des deux techniques sont soulignées par l'Académie Nobel.
