Summary

[edit]
Description
English: East Pit, Limekiln Close Two old chalk pits, which once provided cement for the building of the Cambridge colleges, are now reverting to grassland. They are rated as SSSI for the presence of the rare lime-loving umbellifers Moon Carrot (Seseli libanotis) and Great Pignut (Bunium bulbocastanum). Conservation work is carried out to stop scrub plants such as blackberry and buddleia taking over.
