Description |
English: Roman (probably) eathernware pottery tile sherd; probable tegula fragment. One surviving original edge, other edges broken; there is a slight raised flange (max height c. 7mm) along the surviving original edge; teh tile is roughly flat, although edge with lip curves slightly (concave on the reverse); the surviving original edge is sandy, as though the tile was balanced to dry on sand on this edge; neither of the upper/lower surfaces are sandy. Oxidised fired soft fabric with numerous small (<0.5mm) to large (7mm) ill-sorted angular and rounded white inclusions (?limestone), and sparse rounded black inclusions c.0.3mm-1mm.
