Description

TUMON, GUAM-(March 30 , 2013)-Naval Facilities Engineering Command Marianas (NAVFAC) Hydrogeologist Ramon Camacho, celebrated Earth Day 2013 by leading a tour and speaking about freshwater from the Northern Guam seeping into Tumon Bay. Camacho pointed out areas where algae growths are different because of the freshwater and spots where the seeps create small holes or depressions in the sand full of cool, freshwater. “I volunteer for events like this to share my knowledge with young people and hopefully spark some interest for a future scientist or engineer,” said Camacho. “Educating everyone about Earth Day and the environment we live in is critical for sustaining a world that we can be proud to pass on to our children. My knowledge of water resources hopefully can play a part in doing this.”
