Title
Early medieval single loop buckle, unfinished
Description
English: Early medieval buckle; cast copper alloy D-shaped buckle of probable early Saxon date (c.5th – 7th century). The buckle has a simple, shallow oval shape and is formed of a single band of copper alloy. There is a visible groove where the two ends have been joined, in the centre of the pin bar. The pin bar is narrower than the frame. The buckle seems to be unfinished with the rough remains of the casting still present around the edge of the buckle frame. The whole has a thick, bright green patina over its surface.

Length 19.2mm, width 11.4mm, thickness 3.8mm, weight 2.27g
