English:

Early Roman or Romano British copper alloy brooch. Probably a Colchester derivitave of some sort. It shares similarities with type 17 in Hattatt's 'Ancient And Romano-British Brooches' (fig.20, p.65). It appears undecorated. The sprung pin, spring, and axis bar, are absent. The catchplate andbase of a probable spring top retaining loop are present in part. Probably dates from c43 to c60 AD.

The length is 39mm, the width is 23mm and the weight 5.30g.
