Title
Early Medieval Sword-Ring.
Description
English: A complete cast copper alloy sword-ring (possibly) of Early Early-Medieval, sixth century date (AD 500 - AD 600). External diameter 23mm, internal diameter 13.5mm, width 6mm. Weight 7.96g. The ring is sub-circular in cross section having a diameter of about 5.0mm (the outer face is slightly flattened). A median circumferential rib on the outer face has repetitive stamped tooling. This decorative rib is flanked on either side by a narrow groove. The object is badly corroded in places and is suffering from bronze disease. A shiny dull green patina with a silvery sheen has survived in places.
