Description |
English: Early Saxon foot of cruciform brooch. Below an ancient break two sets of very fine transverse engraved lines and single notch on both sides. Very simple half-round moulding with a pair of transverse grooves below side chamfers. Slightly protruding eyes and a strong median arris down to swollen undivided nostrils, which are decorated with very finely engraved oblique lines. Terminal lobe with transverse hole. Length 43mm. Early - mid 6th century. |
