Description
English: Cast gold annular ear ring. This is roughly sub rectangular in plan with a lozenge-shaped cross-section. The ring is widest at its mid point and tapers towards a point at either terminal, both points overlap by 5mm, but are not fixed together in anyway.

Discussion: There is a parallel for this form of ear-ring in Lindsay Allason-Jones: 'Ear-rings in Roman Britain', no. 35. A similar example has been recorded as treasure 2008 T619 and added on to the PAS database ESS-58B950.

Length 23mm, width 23mm, thickness 3.4mm, weight 3.9g.

In terms of age and as the object contains a minimum of 10% precious metal it qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996.
