Vermutlich erinnert die Figur an den Einsiedlermönch Elias, der in den nahen Eliashöhle ein selbst gewähltes asketisches Leben geführt haben soll und in einer Sage zu den Taten der Heiligen Elisabeth erwähnt wird.
