| Description |
English: The E. J. Kovacic Recreation Center located at 6250 St. Clair Avenue in Cleveland, Ohio, in the United States.
It was built by the city of Cleveland in 1919 as the St. Clair Bath House. Cleveland built numerous bath houses at the time as a public sanitation measure, to give working-class citizens a place to bathe at a time when very few homes had running water. It had an indoor pool, gymnasium, and showers. The city closed all its bath houses In 1941 except for the Broadway Bath House, which closed in 1954. Four bath houses, including the St. Clair facility were converted into a recreation center. The facility was renamed in honor of Cleveland Police Chief Edward Kovacic. It began a $3.2 million renovation in 2017. |
