Summary
[edit]DescriptionDust storm in the Gulf of Oman (MODIS 2017-01-18).jpg |
English: Strong winds pushed waves of dust over the Gulf of Oman in mid-January 2017. The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) aboard NASA’s Aqua satellite captured this true-color image of the dust storm on January 15.
The winds were associated with a small storm system that brought rain to Iraq and Pakistan. Dust storms are a frequent occurrence in this region and one of the most prominent natural hazards. |
