Description

Amalfi se convirtió en el s. IX en una de las 4 repúblicas marítimas que rivalizaron por el control del Mediterráneo junto a Génova, Pisa y Venecia.

El Duomo de Amalfi data del s. IX aunque ha sido varias veces remodelado en distintos estilos arquitectónicos. La famosa fachada fue reconstruida en 1891 después de que la original colapsara. En su interior se guardan los restos de San Andrés que fueron traidos desde Constantinopla durante la Cuarta Cruzada (1206).
