Summary
[edit]DescriptionDun Laoghaire (5840497028) (7).jpg | Dun Laoghaire boast a long history with the sea. From the time before King Laoghaire helped St Patrick escape to Wales through to the Viking and Norman invasions and into the long years of British occupation that followed. Dun Laoghaire has had strong links with the sea since before history began, or so the stories would have you believe. On 19th of July 1898, Marconi transmitted radio signals from a tug in the bay giving details of the progress of the races in the Kingstown Regatta to his assistant who manned the receiving equipment in what is now Moran Park House. This was the first time a sporting event was ever broadcast. |
