| Description |
English: Duke of Wellington statue, Register House Statue by Sir John Steele, erected in 1852. Like many an equestrian statue, the story attaches to it that the sculptor, on realising he had forgotten to sculpt the horse's fetlocks, was so overcome by depression that he committed suicide. In fact, Steele lived in the city's Greenhill area well into his 80s. |
