Description
English: Engraving from La Haye's edition of the Description of China, Vol. III, p. 6. A plan of the temple of the soil god (社稷壇, Shèjìtán, "Altar of Soil and Grain")—under the name "Titang" (地堂, dìtáng, "Hall of Dirt")—where the emperor sacrifices to Shangdi (上帝, Shàngdì) as the lord of the earth.
