| Description | Found on dog poo on path by River Fynn at side of Martlesham Recreation Ground (TM25404726) on 3 November 2015. ID suggested by Ian Andrews and confirmed from key in Dipterists Digest 2005 12, 7-12 "The identification of Dryomyza decrepita Zettterstedt (Diptera, Dryomyzidae)" by Steven J Falk. Check the photo against this extract from key: "Vein R1 with distinct setulae along all its length (except base) in contrast to all other veins except costa. A strong propleural and subequal stigmatal bristle present above front coxa. Frons protruding above antennal bases and lunule, the lunule therefore obscured by the frons in dorsal view. Arista bare on apical two-thirds or more. Male epandrium with surstyli narrow and lacking long setae, and with a pair of equally large inner lobes creating the impression of double claspers. Distinct clouds on cross veins r-m and dm-cu and apices of R2+3, R4+5 and M but faint in teneral specimens. Vein R4+5 strongly curves beyond r-m. Sides of thorax mostly undusted -> Neuroctena anilis (Fallén)" |
