[edit]DescriptionDrivers of forest loss in Brazilian amazon 2001-2013.jpg |
English: This image shows a staged bar graph illustrating the drivers of forest loss in Brazilian Amazon from 2001 to 2013 (thanks to the dataset found at the Our World in Data).
This graph, the x-axis shows bars for each year with different colors, which represent the share of different drivers of forest loss such as pasture, fire, commercial crops, selective loggings, and the others including flooding and tree plantation etc. The y-axis indicates the annual forest loss in Brazilian Amazon in hectares. Only bars(drivers) with large shares in total annual loss is accompanied by the percentages to show the main drivers. Analyzing the graph, it is seen that the Brazilian Amazon's forest loss has been halved from 2001 to 2013. You can also observe that pasture had been the primary reason of the forest loss, followed by commercial crops, small scale clearing and fire. This graph was prepared by analyzing the data provided by Our World in Data regarding the drivers deforestation in the world. With this data, percentage of how much the main drivers occupy the annual forest loss in Brazilian Amazon are calculated. The graph was created automatically by Rawgraph, and then exported to SVG. It was later re-designed in Adobe Illustrator. The texture of the background is drew with Procreate, designed to imitate the texture of the trees. While the colors of the bars are picked based on the nature of each drivers, such as fire usually is represented by the color red (in this case rose red).
