Description
English: An incomplete Post-Medieval rectangular copper-alloy dress hook of possibly Reads Early Post-Medieval Class C, Type 2. It is missing the hook due to old breaks, now worn.

The front and back plate survive but are no longer held together. The front plate is flat with a flanged seam line where the two halves would have originally been joined together. It has a central longitudinal raised panel. The front face of the panel is decorated with diagonal criss-cross grooves. The front plate measures 20.38mm in length, 16.53mm in width, 1.11mm in thickness, 2.45g in weight.

The back face is flat with a concave back face and a flanged seam line where the two halves would have originally been joined together. On the back face is a central pair of oval marks, perhaps the remains of a loop. The back plate measures 20.49mm in length, 17.00mm in width, 1.32mm in thickness, 2.37g in weight.

There is an example of similar function published by Read (Read, 2008, p. 54, no. 167). However, no direct parallels could be found.
