English: Royal blue two piece costume worn by Miss Mary Ann Mitchelson in the 1870s royal blue shot satin; skirt elaborately draped and pleated with cord decoration on side; bodice has log sleeves trimmed with royal blue velvet and lace frill; velvet collar with lace edging ("Bedfordshire" - Alwyn Crowsen, 2006); deeply cut neckline; buttons down front Silk satin dress; two piece, royal blue shot with red. Bodice short fitting – V back front fastening buttoned – tabs at back waistline. Low front neckline with collar. Long sleeves and cuffs – velvet collar and cuffs. Line and boned. Skirt in panels plain and draped – draped bustle at back. Train and pleated hemline. Black cord decoration at front. Part lined. |
