Description
Deutsch: Der erste Bau wurde zwischen 1838 und 1841 von Gottfried Semper im Stil der italienischen Frührenaissance als königliches Hoftheater geschaffen. 1869 brannte er völlig nieder.

Der Nachfolgebau wurde ebenfalls von Gottfried Semper entworfen aber von seinem älteren Sohn Manfred gebaut, da Gottfried Semper die Einreise nach Sachsen aus politischen Gründen untersagt war. Fertiggestell wurde die Semperoper dann 1879. Während der verheerenden Bombenangriffen auf Dresden in der Nacht des 13. Februars 1945 wurde das Gebäude getroffen und zerstört. Der Wiederaufbau begann mit der Grundsteinlegung im Juni 1977.

Am 13 Februar 1985, dem 40. Jahrestag der Zerstörung wurde die Semperoper dann wieder mit der Oper 'Der Freischütz' von Carl Maria Weber neu eröffnet.
English: The first building was created by Gottfried Semper from 1838 to 1841 in the style of the early Italian Renaissance as the Royal Court Theatre. In 1869 he was burnt completely.

The successor building was also designed by Gottfried Semper, but from his older son Manfred constructed as Gottfried Semper entry to Saxony was prohibited for political reasons. The new Semperoper was finished in 1879. During the devastating bombing raids on Dresden in the night of 13 February 1945 the building was hit and destroyed. Reconstruction began with the groundbreaking ceremony in June 1977.

On 13 February 1985, the 40th Anniversary of the destruction, the Semperoper was reopened with the opera "Der Freischütz" by Carl Maria Weber.
