Description
English: A 2-8-2 1000mm gauge locomotive of the Deutsche Reichsbahn 99 7241-6 heads off towards Nordhausen. A branch line climbed towards Schierke, a trade union holiday village just past this station but was served by very few trains and moreover one could not travel on them without a permit to be in the border area. Buses travelling to Schierke from here had border security guards travelling on them. At this time, the tracks to the Brocken stopped at Schierke, having been out of regular passenger use since 1961. Services were reintroduced in 1990.
