New Early Spring-flowering Clematis. CI^EMATIS M0:NTA)VA gra:ndifi.ora. After three years' acquaintance with this Clematis we are mo-re than ever impressed with its great value, and believe it to be the best of the very early spring-flowering climbers. The plant is of stronger growth than any other Cle- matis, not subject to the attacks of insects, and succeeds under the most adverse conditions. It is perfectly hardy, having withstood without the least damage in a most un- â favorable position in our trial grounds. Its flowers, which resemble the Anemone or Windflower, are snow-white, IJ to 2 inches in di.imeter, and frequently begin to ex- POLYGONUM I'.ALDSCHI ^NKUM. pand as early as the last week in April, continuing well through May, and are produced in such masses as to completely hide the plant. (See illustration.) Extra strong 2 year-old plants, 50 cls. each; .fo.OO per doz. CLEMATIS MOIVTANA RUBENS. The latest and most important addition to our list of hardy climbers, identical in every way with the white-flowered variety described above, except in color, which is of a pleasing shade of soft rosy-red, a mo?t desirable and novel color, and not found in any other hardy climber. We offer a limited stock of very strong plants. $1.00 each. New Hardy Yellow Jasmine. JASMINtTM PRIMUI.IXJM. The old-time ^3.von\.s Jiisuiiiium /i'2«/2/f(>?-H;« is especially admired on account of its early flowering, its flowers, in a sheltered position or against a warm wall, a))penring as early as the middle of March. In this new variety, an introducti )a from China, we have almost a Counter- part, excepting that its flowers are fully double the size. These appear simultaneously with the leaves. It will, no doubt prove an excellent addition to our limited list of early spring-flowering climbers. Strong plants, 50 cts. each. Neiiv Hardy Everlasting Pea "WHITE PEARE." (^Liiihyriis Uitifolins grcuidijioriis iil/uis ) A magnificent, new pure-white variety, wilh individ- ual flowers fully double the size of the ordinary Hardy Everlasting Pea. These are produced in really gigan- tic trusses, and are of the purest while and in bloom throughout the eniire summer and early fall.^ A valu- able acqui>iiion that is certain to become popular. One of our customers who secured a root last spring pro- nounces it grea'." We offer a limited lot of very strong roots at 75 cts. each. POEYGONU^I BALOSCHUAIVICUM. This beautiful hardy, woody, twining plant was first offered by us in 1900, but is still comparatively rare. We consider it one of the most interesting and showy lardy climbers. Its wdiite flowers are' borne in great feathery sprays at the ex- tremities of the branches throughout the summer and fall. Strong plants, 50 cts. each. Polygonum Multifloruni. Another very desirable climbing plant which seems peculiarly adapted to our cli- iriatic conditions. It is of strong, rapid, but not coarse growth, frequently attaining a height of 15 to 20 feet in one season. Its bright green heart- shaped leaves are never both- ered by insects, and during September and October it pro- duces masses of foamy-white flowers in large trusses from the axil of each leaf. 25 cts. each ; $2.50 per doz. LARGE AND SMALL FLOWERING CLEMATIS We offer a very select list of the above on page 222. Taker as a whole, they are the best and showiest of Hardy Climbers.
