Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Dr. Phillips Thomas holds the inner section of his invention, the glow transmitter. Surrounding text reads (in part): "Another type of thermo-microphone has also been put to successful use—the glow transmitter developed by Dr. Phillips Thomas, of the Westinghouse Research Laboratories. Dr. Thomas has demonstrated that a high-pressure, low-current electrical discharge between two electrodes in air may be modulated by sound impulses striking upon it."
