[edit]DescriptionDouglas SBD VB-10 1944.jpg | A U.S. Navy Douglas SBD-5 Dauntless of bombing squadron VB-10, Carrier Air Group 10 (CVG-10), based on the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise (CV-6), in 1944. The plane with its crew, pilot Don Lewis and gunner John Mankin, took part in the strikes against the Japanese carriers at dusk on 19 June 1944 during the Battle of the Philippine Sea. The crew and plane returned to finally land aboard the carrier USS Yorktown (CV-10). They had taken off at 1615h and landed at 2215h. |
