| Description |
English: Last night we celebrated Diwali, the festival of lights, on Parliament Hill. Diwali is celebrated by a wide variety of communities and brings people together from many different faiths and cultures. It spreads a message of friendship and understanding. We also remembered and miss our dear friend Deepak Obhrai, a proud Conservative and Canada’s first Hindu Member of Parliament. He was a constant source of joy in our Conservative family and in his community. Words from his daughter, Priti Obhrai-Martin, brought comfort and served as a reminder that we must always work to continue Deepak’s important work. Français : Hier soir avons célébré Diwali, le Festival des lumières, sur la Colline du Parlement. Diwali est célébré par une grande variété de communautés et rassemble des gens de nombreuses fois et cultures. Il transmet un message d’amitié et de compréhension. Nous nous sommes souvenus de notre cher ami Deepak Obhrai, un fier conservateur et le premier député hindou du Canada. Il était une source de joie constante dans notre famille conservatrice et sa communauté. Les propos de sa fille, Priti Obhrai-Martin, nous ont réconfortés et nous ont rappelé que nous devons poursuivre l’important travail de Deepak. |
