Description
Français : Chez les mammifères non-primates, et en particulier chez les femelles, les hormones inhibent les activités sexuelles lorsque l'organisme n'est pas fécondable. Mais des rongeurs jusqu'aux humains, au cours de l'évolution cérébrale, les activités sexuelles deviennent progressivement dissociées des cycles hormonaux. Chez l'être humain, il n'existe quasiment plus d'inhibitions saisonnières ou oestrales des activités sexuelles. Les activités sexuelles peuvent avoir lieu durant tout le cycle hormonal et à toutes les saisons de l'année. La sexualité est dissociée de la reproduction.
