[edit]DescriptionDiscus, ca. 1933 (6302884246).jpg |
Staying within his allotted circle, this participant is shown executing the delivery of the discus while competing in the International Guard's Track and Field meet held in Shanghai, China. A newspaper article covering the events noted that, "The American discus men made another clean sweep of this event and established a new meet record when LaRue, American, twirled the plate the amazing distance of one hundred thirty-two feet four and three quarters inches to beat the old record by nine feet seven and one quarter inches. Bosma and Mura, Americans, finished second and third in the order named." From the Peter Hoyt Collection (COLL/2392), Marine Corps Archives & Special Collections OFFICIAL USMC PHOTOGRAPH |
