Français : Le contexte de la construction est la victoire du duc de Lorraine et de Bar René II sur le duc de Bourgogne Charles le Téméraire. Charles, malgré sa témérité, n'a pas réussi à reconstituer la Lotharingie carolingienne. Ayant des possessions en Flandre et en Bourgogne, il souhaitait simplement coller tout l'ensemble et créer un nouveau Royaume au cœur de l'Europe occidentale. Malheureusement, après de mauvaises décisions et d'aides, son rêve fut un échec et il mourut durant le siège de la ville de Nancy. Mais bref, je m'égare.
René et un bon nombre d'autres donateurs financèrent donc la construction à partir de 1481 dans un style de gothique flamboyant comme dit précédemment et dans des dimensions plus que correcte, un peu de plus de 70m de long, un peu plus de 30m de large, des tours à presque 90m. Nous ne sommes clairement pas dans un petit village et son église paroissiale. Admirez donc ces piliers aux couronnes, ces vitraux aux finitions originales, cette hauteur de plafond, etc. Ce qui ne se voit pas trop sur ma prise par contre, c'est la légère déviation de la nef de quelques degrés (on a beau être "tout-puissant" à cette époque, si le voisin ne voulait pas vendre, il fallait s'adapter).
