Dann wurdeim J. 1528 (nicht 1578) an Stelle des alten Thorturmes ein neues Thorhaus errichtet (Jahreszahl am Eingang). Unter dem Amtmann von Scheid-Weschpfennig (1573 bisi6o5) weitere Neubauten (vgl. v. Mering IX, S. 67.)Schicksnie im Mit dem Beginn des Jülich-Kleveschen Erbfolgekrieges setzt eine lange Leidens- zeit für Schioss Burg ein. Im J. 1614 nahm der Pfalzgraf Wolfgang Wilhelm dasSchioss ein, im J. 1641 eroberte es der kaiserliche Oberst Sparr. Als die kaiserlicheBesatzung unter dem Obersten Heinrich von Plettenberg im J. i648 nach dem west-fälischen Friedensschlüsse abziehen musste, demolierte sie das ganze Schioss, „alsodass nichts mehr unter Dach stehet als das hohe Gebew, so man von der Solingerseithen her siebet, neben der Kellnerey, so allein noch bewohnet und brauchbahr ist(Harlkss in der Berg.
