Summary
[edit]DescriptionDidcot geograph-2565399-by-Ben-Brooksbank.jpg |
English: New type of GW Pannier Tank engine at Didcot. View NE from east end of the station, across the Goods Yard to the Avoiding-line to Oxford etc. The '1500' outside-cylinder 0-6-0Ts were a post-war 'Austerity' design by Hawksworth for the GWR, but not introduced until 1949 - after Nationalisation. No. 1502 was built 7/49 and withdrawn 1/61! There seems to be a loud-speaker, for the shunting work, on a pole behind the engine's front end. (See also SU5290 : A 'Modified Hall' 4-6-0 on an Up Parcels at Didcot and SU5290 : 2-6-0 pilot locomotive in the yard at Didcot re the location). |
