Title
English: Deserted cabin, Snoqualmie Pass, October 15, 1896
Description
English: Notes in inventory: Snoqualmie Pass. Over the Cascade Mountains between North Bend and Easton. Deserted cabin, 10 1/4 miles from North Bend.

Snoqualmie Pass is a 3,004-foot pass at the crest of the Cascades at the head of the Snoqualmie River drainage to the west and the Yakima River drainage to the east, between eastern King County and northwest Kittitas County. The pass carries more highway traffic than any other pass over the Cascade Mountains. After many surveys, the first wagon road was built through the pass by A. A. Denny and other early settlers in 1865. Beginning in 1914, with permanent paving, many bridges and a lot of earth moving, the road has been transformed into a modern freeway which is open all year around unlike other Cascade mountain passes.
