| Description |
English: Deserted Medieval Village of Monkton The ridge visible in the foreground is a trackway that once skirted the rear of crofts that lined this small valley. Some of the banks made for housing are also still visible. Nobody knows why the village was deserted there are suggestions of disease or the result of nearby enclosures but only one farm was left from the 15th century onwards which continued operating until the early 20th century. |
