Description
English: Desert View Visitor Center/ Bookstore (2010-2014) and Orientation Plaza crosswalk at the edge of the autombile parking lot. Paths continue away from the parking lot to the Watchtower and canyon rim.

For travelers coming into the park via the East Entrance, a stop at Desert View provides the first views of Grand Canyon. Attractions feature some of the finest views of the Colorado River and canyon geology, the Watchtower, and the nearby Tusayan Museum, highlighting the story of American Indains of the region. Facilities include rest rooms, seasonal campground (open mid-April through mid-October, service station, gift shops, deli, and general store. Perched on the rim of the canyon, the Watchtower reflects the architecture of the ancestral Puebloans in the Four Corners region. Climb the stairs for views up and down the canyon. . Desert View is located 25 miles/ 41 km east of Grand Canyon Village, on the South Rim of the park . www.nps.gov/grca/planyourvisit/desert-view.htm .
