| Description |
English: Derelict Road. This road is still marked on current Ordnance Survey maps as being in service (albeit a dead end), but as can clearly be seen in the picture, it is now being taken over by nature. Before the Second World War, this road linked West Malling with Wateringbury, but an airfield was built during the War that intersected the road. The road still served to provide access to the airfield until it was closed. Today, the airfield is a building site for new housing and no access is provided from this direction. The council have blocked the road just before it enters this square, though there's little reason for the road's existence today for much of its length. |
