82 THE DENTAL REVIEW OBITUARY. DR. RUDOLPH H. HOFHEINZ. Born at Heidelberg, Germany, October 21st, 1856. Died at Rochester,N. Y. November 23, 1916. Entered the Lyceum at the age of nine. After the death of his parents he came to America, May 23, 1871.

Dr. Rudolph H. Hofheinz Entered the New York College of Dentistry in 1876, graduated with thehighest honors in 1879, having bestowed upon him the gold medal in recog-nition of attaining the highest marks in examinations. Has been in constant practice in the city of Rochester, N. Y., till hisdeath. In 1896 received a call as professor of operative dentistry to BuffaloUniversity. Filled this chair until 1909 when ill health compelled him to OBITUARY. 83 resign. Was made professor emeritus of the Buffalo University. Wastwice president of the New York State Dental Society, also presidentof the Seventh District Society and of the Rochester Dental Society.Was offered the presidency of the National Society of Dentists which hehad to decline on account of ill health. He was trustee of the Rochester Dental Dispensary and principalof the Hygienists School. The sudden taking away of Dr. Hofheinz, while in one sense not al-together unexpected, was after all a severe shock to his friends. He hadbe
