English: I am on Dennis Kucinich's e-mail list because I donated money to him. I heard that he was going to be in the area today (July 27, 2008) at a picnic, so I showed up. Apparently it was put on by a local Ramallah club (a Palestinian organization looking for a more balanced approach, from what I could gather). It was way less political and less crowded than I expected, and I ended up spending probably about five minutes total over three conversations with Dennis.
My biggest takeaway: We deserve a chance to meet our representatives in person. It's different than e-mails or even phone calls. Standing to Dennis's left is his wife, Elizabeth. He's standing on a bench; she is not. |
