Description
English: From left, Deborah Malac, U.S. ambassador to Liberia and chief of mission Liberia, discusses the operations taking place in Liberia with Sen. Christopher Coons of Delaware, and Maj. Gen. Gary Volesky, commanding general, Joint Forces Command – United Assistance, during an operations brief in the JFC-UA joint operations center, Barclay Training Center, Monrovia, Liberia, Dec. 20, 2014. The senator visited the JFC-UA headquarters to receive briefs on the current efforts to contain and eradicate Ebola in Liberia. Coons is the chair of two subcommittees, one of which is the Foreign Relations Subcommittee on African Affairs. Operation United Assistance is a Department of Defense operation in Liberia to provide logistics, training and engineering support to U.S. Agency for International Development-led efforts to contain the Ebola virus outbreak in western Africa.
