English: Brad Blauser, right, founder of Wheelchairs for Iraqi kids, and Iraq Brig. Gen. Ali Ibraheem Dabown show parents of handicapped children how to adjust the wheelchairs they are about to receive during a humanitarian event on Joint Security Station Beladiyat in the 9 Nissan district of eastern Baghdad, Iraq, June 20, 2009. U.S. paratroopers and Iraqi police officers teamed up with Blauser to hand out more than 30 wheelchairs donated by his organization. Blauser founded the organization in 2005 at the request of military officials after soldiers in Mosul observed children drag themselves on the ground due to birth defects. The paratroopers are assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division's Headquarters Company, 2nd Battalion, 505 Parachute Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team. |
