Vergelijk hiermeeook het onder n°. 1 in de rubriek: imitatie weefpatronen behandelde motief: këmbangblimbing. 16. Këmbang asem koeroeng. Këmbang asëm = tamarinde-bloem. (Tamarindus indica, behoorende tot de Leguminosae). Koeroeng = omkooid. Een wit fond met warrelige lijntjes, die bladranken moeten voorstellen. Hier en daar soga- kleurige ringen met blauwe, witbestippelde strepen. In het midden van die ringen onduidelijke figuren. 180 17. Këmbang sémak latar irëng. Sëmak = de Diospyros Horsfieldii Hiern, behoorende tot de Ebenaceae en die een eetbare vrucht oplevert, waarvan het kleverige sap als lijm gebruikt wordt. Op regelmatige afstanden zijn op het blauwe veld cirkelvormige bloemen geplaatst, elk met een steel, waaraan een driehoekig gevormd blad. Deze stelen slingeren zich om elkander. Om de symmetrie der teekening zou men dit patroon allicht tot de tjëplokkans brengen, maar het is hier de batikster blijkbaar niet te doen geweest, om een eenvoudig lijnenmotief te ver-

Op den voorgrond ont-springen lange bladeren uit rozetvormige middens. Meestal komt het këmbang manggar-patroon voor als schuin lijnen-motief (zie n°. 15 onder de rubriek: schuinloopende motieven,niet tot de parangs behoorend); hier echter is dit motief tot een bloem- en bladpatroongemaakt. 181 19. Sëmèn baita latar irëng. Sëmèn (afgeleid van sëmi) = al wat uitgebot, uitgeloot is (van planten). Bai ta — prauw, vaartuig. Ranken met bladeren en veervormige of vleugelvormige bloemen.
