Summary
[edit]DescriptionDazu 2007 637.jpg |
English: Attendants of Avalokiteshvara. Beishan Grottoes, Dazu
Attendants are carved within clouds on either side of Avalokiteshvara's mandorla (File:Dazu 2007 635.jpg). Above, a large rondel encloses a celestial (the moon?). Below that is a cloud with the god of thunder, then a group of five deities (planets?), then two multi-armed deities: Mahamayuri on a peacock, and Manjusri on a lion. At the bottom, a triad and a pair of guardians. The scheme is completed with a similar design on the other side (File:Dazu 2007 636.jpg). |
