Summary
[edit]DescriptionDayton Gillig-Kiepe DMBT trolleybus 1971 on route 8 in 2021.jpg | Greater Dayton RTA trolleybus 1971, a Gillig/Kiepe dual-mode trolleybus completed in late 2019 or early 2020, inbound on route 8-Lakeview at the east end of Lakeview Avenue, about to turn onto Germantown Street. From downtown it will continue on as route 8-Salem Avenue to Northwest Hub. No. 1971 has a Gillig BRT low-floor body+chassis, which was provided without any propulsion equipment to Kiepe, who then equipped it as a trolleybus – its model DMBT (for dual-mode battery/trolley) – for RTA. It is one of 41 such vehicles built for RTA in 2019–20 (plus four prototypes built in 2014, of which two were model DMDT, with small diesel engine). |
