Sistrum Handle (Acc. 9650) This is the handle of a sistrum (musical rattle), in pale faience, fashioned as the head of the goddess Hathor. It is identical on both sides. The heiroglyphs read, "The good god, Lord of the two lands..." It measures 8.9x7.9cm, and has been dated to the Late Period (715-332BC) and was donated to the Manchester Museum in 1938 by George Spiegelberg. |
