Summary
[edit]DescriptionDavid Wallace House, Amherst, New York - 20191107.jpg |
English: The David Wallace House, 697 Lebrun Road (corner Westmoreland Road), Eggertsville, New York. Designed by E. B. Green & Sons and built in 1929 for its namesake owner, this 7,400-square-foot (680m²) mansion has seven bedrooms and five bathrooms and sits on nearly two and a half acres (a hectare) of land. The steeply-pitched slate roof incorporating dormer windows on the uppermost floor, the French door capped by its handsome swan's-neck pediment, and the Classically-inspired balusters all point to a proud French Provincial Revival style that is well-suited to what was once called the Amherst Estates, laid out in the mid-1920s in the far southwestern corner of the town. The house served as the 2009 Decorator's Show House, a semiannual program of the Junior League of Buffalo whereby a private residence that is significant from an architectural or interior-design perspective is opened to the public for a period of several weeks to benefit local charities. The house last sold in 2018 for a reported price of $1.15 million. |
