Summary

[edit]
Description
English: One of a mixed set of pictures, as the square had a mosque (under construction), the River Barada (rather canalized) and some fine buildings, as well as a well-supplied sweetmeats shop. The main sight was a columns that was obviously the monument for the fallen, as the name of the square implied. It used to be the centre of the city, which it no longer is. The martyrs are the people killed when the French mandate came to an end.
