Summary
[edit]DescriptionDaisy Hill, Queensland, Rifle Range (former), bullet finds 2013.jpg |
English: Projectiles (bullets) recovered from the former rifle range at Daisy Hill, Queensland, Australia.
Appear to be 0.303 British calibre, round nose. If so, pre-date the Mark VII and later pointed nose (spitzer) types introduced in 1910. Finds show a copper alloy full metal jacket around a lead core (section left) and 5 groove rifling marks (top right). These finds were recovered just north of the supposed target area and, if of the earlier type, could support the history of the site as a rifle range, active between 1901-1908 (see Daisy Hill, Queensland, Rifle Range 1902). |
