Description

Back in the '90s a number of formats appeared for digital recording of audio, including CD-R, DAT, Minidisc and this - DCC, or Digital Compact Cassette. Created by Philips, this format ultimately lost out to MD, just not having the advertising or music company support it needed. The fact that it was a tape format was also a big negative, minidisc offering much quicker access times in a more compact and hard-wearing medium.

Q Magazine offered a mail-in to receive a DCC of the cover CD one month and I sent off for it, not because I wanted to play it but because I didn't think it would last and I wanted one of the tapes for interest. I found it a few days ago when I unearthed my old cassette box.
