| Description |
Deutsch: Wappen der ehemaligen Gemeinde Wetten, seit 1969 Stadtteil von Kevelaer: „In Rot eine sechsblättrige silberne (weiße) Mispelblüte mit goldener (gelber) Butze und goldenen (gelben) Kelchblättern. Rechts und links vom obersten Blatt wachsend je eine goldene (gelbe) Löwenklaue nach Außen gerichtet.“ Das Wettener Wappen geht auf ein Siegel von 1390 zurück. Die Symbole stehen für die "stählerne Kraft" der Vorfahren und die Zugehörigkeit zu Geldern (Geldernsche Rose). English: „Gules, a six-folded medlar flower Argent seeded and leaved Or; above rising right and left two lion claws Or.“
The arms were granted 0n August 23, 1953. The arms are derived from a seal from 1390. The medlar flower symbolises the former belonging to the duchy of Guelders. The claws symbolise the iron power of the ancestors. |
